Addi, a family company making knitting needles in Nordrhein Westfalen for the last 191 years, take sustainability seriously. The olive wood used to make these needles is harvested from old olive trees that no longer produce olives, many of which are over 150 years old. Olive wood has a gorgeous lively grain and this is enhanced by a protective layer of vegetable oil. It is a very stable wood, allowing the needles to have a fine point. Wooden needles are warm, light, tactile, and don't make noise like their metal cousins.
If you are into knitting, you know the hours and hours involved in making a jumper or a cardigan. Treat your fingers to nice needles!
