Duilleoga na hÉireann' (Leaves of Ireland)
This t-shirt is really special. Each leaf design is made up of Irish words all related to its tree in folklore and Celtic mythology.
Included are: Alder, Birch, Hawthorn, Elder, Pine, Oak, Blackthorn, Ash, and Hazel.
Beside each leaf (or pinecone!) A corresponding Ogham rune has also been added.
Ogham is an ancient Irish alphabet, thought to have been created in the 4th century. All that remains of it are what is carved on a multitude of Ogham stones, which can be found in Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, South-West England and across the South of Ireland.
The Ogham alphabet is sometimes called the Tree Alphabet, because up to 8 of the letters correspond to tree names, and later in medieval times all of the letters were ascribed to trees. But originally it was only 8, and the rest of the letters have various other meanings.
T-shirt has been screen-printed in Co. Waterford using water-based inks, onto a beautifully soft 100% organic cotton Earth-Positive t-shirt. These are heat cured and can be washed at 30 degrees.
